At Cat in a Box each item is carefully selected and its condition is evaluated. I only list items which are in a great condition and which I would love to keep - I do keep a lot because they’re all special to me. Each piece is cleaned with special care so it can look its best for you.

That’s when the research start. What is it? What was it used for? How old is it? A lot of these questions can’t be answered easily and sometimes researching an item can take weeks. Some items are just so unique, it is very hard to find exactly their origin and to me, it’s very important that that doesn’t get lost in time. Items are only sold when they can finally tell you why they’re special.

Once sold, I carefully pack each of them so they’re ready for their forever home. That means cardboard and bubble wrap. Whenever possible, we reuse cardboard for packaging from local businesses to reduce waste.

Our items are posted mostly next day - unless they require something extra to be safe during shipment. They lived a long life and I don't want them to end up broken when they’re so close to their new home. I would rather wait a day and find the perfect packaging. 99% of our items are shipped within 48 hours of purchase unless requested by the buyer.
