District 4 Candidate- Jacob Petroski
As a former teacher, graduate of public schools and father of two children currently in the Orange County Public School System, Jake Petroski is passionate about improving education. Jake graduated with his B.S. in Park, Recreation, and Tourism Resources with a Concentration on Commercial Tourism from Michigan State University and completed an advanced internship with the Recreation Line of Business at Walt Disney World. After meeting and marrying his wife, Christin, a Florida native, Jake made Central Florida his home.
Jake was a teacher in Central Florida for many years. During that time he also was a varsity head coach of the high school golf team. His desire to educate children and create a safe and healthy village to surround them began during his time as a teacher and only strengthened when his two daughters were born. Currently, the Petroskis have a daughter at Gotha Middle School and a daughter at Thornebrooke Elementary School. Jake volunteers much of his time at both schools and coaches various sports teams at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, where Jake and his family are members.
Prior to making the decision to run for School Board, Jake spent a lot of time speaking with school administrators, teachers, parents and students about their hopes and concerns for Orange County’s public education system. Based on those conversations, Jake has a clear vision for several areas of improvement.
The vision of the Orange County School Board is to ensure that every student has a promising and successful future. This vision cannot be achieved unless school board representatives maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, teachers and administrators to ensure that OCPS is doing all that it can to cultivate pathways of success. Jake wants to hear from you about how he can meet your needs as a candidate for OCPS District 4 Representative.
