1995 Dr. Kataria started the first Laughter Yoga Club in India, he had five people in his first session and now there are 100s of laughter yoga clubs world wide.

Laughter Yoga clubs create an environment where anyone can laugh without relying on humour, jokes or comedy. We initiate laughter as an exercise, and with eye contact and child like playfulness, the “fake” laughter soon turns into real and contagious laughter.

The reason why it is called Laughter Yoga is because we combine laughing exercises with deep breathing—resulting in more oxygen flowing in your body and brain.

Is laughter yoga really yoga?

Laughing yoga exercises mimic the breathing technique, which forms the core of yoga. Like yoga, laughter yoga includes meditation, affirmations, and light stretches and it shares the same excellent benefits for the body.
